Youth Development Through Sports
PROGRAMMING GOALS
We have been able to measure our program’s success on these key goals:
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
improving GPAs, standardized testing turnout and scores
POST-SECONDARY ACHIEVEMENT
increasing graduation, trade school, and higher education enrollment rates
COMMUNITY AND FAMILY RELATIONS
increasing students’ community engagement and family involvement
OTHER SKILLS
encouraging the development of interpersonal and other life skills, such as financial literacy and workforce development
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Beyond the Field has served over 285 students to date since 2016.
In the 2021-2022 academic year, we served East Tech High School and Warrensville Heights High School. At WHHS, we found that of the sports teams with active participation in the program, most saw an increase of the team's overall average GPA. Subsequently, those students who improved their grades were more attentive to their weekly progress and to maintaining those improved grades.
Additionally, those teams with active participation in the program showed better attendance at study table sessions, resulting in their players either increasing GPA during the off-season, and/or maintaining or seeing less decline in their GPA during the off-season.
